Custom Iron-on Woven Patches

Applying iron-on woven patches is quick and straightforward:

1. Preheat your iron to medium-high (150–160°C / 300–320°F) with no steam
2. Position the patch on the garment with the adhesive side facing down
3. Cover with a thin cloth or baking paper to protect the woven surface
4. Press firmly for 10–15 seconds without moving the iron
5. Allow to cool completely before handling
6. For stronger adhesion, press again from the reverse side of the garment

For permanent applications or high-wear areas, reinforcing with a few border stitches after heat application is recommended.

Iron-on woven patches bond well with most common garment fabrics:

• Cotton and cotton blends
• Denim
• Polyester and canvas
• Wool (use a lower heat setting)

They are not suitable for:

• Waterproof or coated fabrics
• Leather and faux leather
• Nylon and highly stretchy materials
• Delicate fabrics such as silk or rayon

For incompatible fabrics, sew-on woven patches are the recommended alternative.

Our iron-on woven patches use industrial-grade heat-seal adhesive designed for repeated washing. For best durability:

• Wait 24 hours after application before the first wash
• Machine wash inside out at 30–40°C
• Avoid tumble drying on high heat
• Do not bleach or dry clean

On high-stress areas such as bag straps, jacket sleeves or knees, reinforcing with border stitching significantly extends the lifespan of the bond.

Yes — and for high-wear or frequently washed applications we recommend it. All our iron-on woven patches can be reinforced with stitching around the border after heat application. The adhesive holds the patch in position during sewing, making the process clean and precise. This combination of iron-on and sew-on application is the most durable attachment method available.

Both use heat-activated adhesive backing, but differ in surface texture and detail capability:

• Iron-on woven patches: Flat, smooth surface with high thread density — ideal for fine detail, small text, complex multi-colour designs and a modern minimal aesthetic
• Iron-on embroidered patches: Raised, three-dimensional texture — ideal for bold logos that benefit from visual depth and a classic, artisanal character

If your design includes text smaller than 4mm or intricate linework, iron-on woven patches will reproduce it more accurately.

Yes — a heat press is the preferred application method for production environments and delivers more consistent results than a household iron. Recommended settings:

• Temperature: 150–160°C (300–320°F)
• Pressure: Medium-firm
• Time: 10–15 seconds

Even pressure distribution from a heat press ensures stronger adhesion across the entire patch surface compared to a standard iron.

Once fully bonded and cooled, iron-on woven patches are intended to be permanent. Immediate repositioning is possible by reheating gently and carefully peeling from one corner before the adhesive sets. Once fully cooled, forced removal risks damaging the garment fabric. For applications requiring removability, Velcro-backed woven patches are the recommended alternative.

Iron-on woven patches are available with two edge finishing styles:

• Merrowed border: A stitched thread border around the perimeter — the classic patch look, available in any thread colour
• Laser cut (hot cut): A clean, sealed edge with no stitched border — ideal for custom shapes and a modern, minimal finish

Both options are compatible with iron-on backing and available in any shape including custom die-cut outlines.

Yes. Our iron-on woven patches use OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified yarns and adhesive materials. All components — threads, dyes and heat-seal adhesive — have been independently tested and confirmed free from harmful substances, making them safe for direct skin contact including children's garments up to Product Class I (infants up to 3 years of age).
