Custom Iron-on Embroidered Patches

Applying an iron-on embroidered patch takes under a minute:

1. Preheat your iron to medium-high (150–160°C / 300–320°F) — no steam
2. Position the patch on the garment with the adhesive side facing down
3. Cover with a thin cloth or baking paper to protect the embroidery
4. Press firmly for 10–15 seconds without moving the iron
5. Let cool completely before handling
6. For best adhesion, press again from the reverse side of the garment

For permanent applications on high-wear areas, we recommend reinforcing with a few stitches around the border.

Yes, our industrial-grade heat-seal adhesive is designed for repeated washing. For best results:

• Wait at least 24 hours after application before the first wash
• Wash inside out at 30–40°C
• Avoid tumble drying on high heat — medium or low is fine
• Do not dry clean or use bleach

On high-stress areas such as knees, elbows or bag straps, we recommend sew-on reinforcement for maximum longevity.

Iron-on embroidered patches bond well with most natural and synthetic fabrics, including:

• Cotton and cotton blends
• Denim
• Polyester and canvas
• Wool (use lower heat setting)

They are not suitable for:

• Waterproof or coated fabrics
• Leather and faux leather
• Nylon and highly stretchy materials
• Rayon or delicate silks

For these fabrics, sew-on embroidered patches are the recommended alternative.

Yes — and we recommend it for high-wear applications. All our iron-on embroidered patches can be reinforced with stitching around the border after heat application. This is especially advisable for:

• Workwear and uniforms subject to frequent washing
• Children's clothing
• Bag straps, backpacks and gear with friction points
• Outerwear worn in outdoor or industrial environments

The iron-on adhesive holds the patch in position while you sew, making the process easier and neater.

Yes — a heat press produces more consistent results than a household iron and is the preferred method for production environments. Recommended settings:

• Temperature: 150–160°C (300–320°F)
• Pressure: Medium-firm
• Time: 10–15 seconds

Heat presses distribute pressure evenly across the entire patch surface, resulting in stronger adhesion compared to a standard iron.

The core difference is application method and durability:

• Iron-on embroidered patches: Heat-activated adhesive backing — quick to apply, no sewing required, suitable for most casual and fashion applications
• Sew-on embroidered patches: Stitched directly onto the garment — maximum durability, preferred for workwear, uniforms and high-wash frequency garments

The embroidery quality, design options, and OEKO-TEX certification are identical for both types. The only difference is how they attach to the fabric.

Yes. Our iron-on embroidered patches use OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified threads and adhesive materials, confirming they are free from harmful substances and safe for direct skin contact including infants and children up to 3 years of age (Product Class I). For children's garments we recommend reinforcing with a few border stitches after heat application to prevent any edge lifting during play and washing.

Once fully bonded, iron-on patches are intended to be permanent and are difficult to remove cleanly. Partial repositioning is possible immediately after application before the adhesive has fully set — reheat gently and carefully peel from one corner. Once cooled and fully bonded, forced removal may damage the garment fabric. If you need a removable option, Velcro-backed embroidered patches are a better choice.
